- Knowing your credit score and what's on your credit report can help you determine what products to apply for. If you have fair credit, for example, you may not want to apply for a card that clearly states that only applicants with excellent credit will be approved.
- If you don't have good credit, you may find it difficult to get approved for a card with a large sign-up bonus and a lucrative reward structure. Each credit card application ends up on your credit report, so the Nerds recommend using our credit cards comparison tool to find a card that fits your credit profile before applying.
- If the card allows balance transfers, you may request to have balances transferred from other credit card accounts to the new card.
- To apply for a credit card in the US, you’ll need a valid Social Security number and a positive credit history. The best rewards credit cards may require at least three to five years of good credit history, and some more than seven.

The 4% back at restaurants is pretty stout, since I eat out all the time. I had to call customer service a few times for issues, the main one being that the laminated pieces of the card started falling apart. The card was not very sturdy, which I know is is odd thing to say about a credit card. I got the card in 4 months ago, and to reiterate the sentiments of other comments, it did take a while for the card to get here.
"This is a really straight forward card. Four percent back at restaurants is great for me because I eat out often. The $100 bonus hit my statement as soon as I was at the spend threshold not after the full 90 days which I thought was good. During account opening Barclays even called me because I had another card with them I didn't use much anymore as it's reward tiers had become relatively unattractive. Since my combined likes would be pretty high the representative offered to move the availability over to my new Uber card which has come in very handy and put Barclays back in first place for usability in my wallet. I've had Amex, Capital One, and Discover and while those three companies have solid customer service Barclays has them all beat by far. I'm quite happy with my Uber card all the way around.
"Super easy to activate and super easy to redeem my points. Traveled abroad and really appreciated those zero transaction fees.Sidenote- this card looks great and makes cashiers do a double take when you hand it to them.
"Worst card ever applied. Bad customer service and security is very annoying. Prepare a 2nd hard inquiry on TransUnion after 2 months. Talked with 4 representatives to get the card activated but the transaction was still declined for reason. Don't be fooled by the 4-3-2-1 cashback. It's only because they had confusing app interface, bad customer service and poor card make quality (chip will become defective)
"Bad customer service and overall app interface. It took me over 2 months to receive my rewards card and talked with about 10 customer representatives before I could get a straight answer. Manuevering through the app is not great and it crashes a lot.
