Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express

I've wanted this AMEX ever since I started traveling quite a bit for work, almost exclusively on Delta. But, we went through a Chapter 7 BK about that same time I started traveling. It was discharged 7 years, 3 months ago and I always figured I'd need to wait for a full 10 yrs once it dropped off entirely.

I googled how to see if I could see an AMEX offer I was pre-approved for, got a link, went incognito (I have no idea if that mattered) and this card popped up with a 50k mileage bonus with a 1k spend in 3 mos.

Our utilization is pretty high (77%ish but going down), we have one 30-day late just over a year ago on a now paid off department store card (just an oversight), and a decent income ($148kish). I still thought I'd get the decline notice and hesitated over the "Apply Now" button, but clicked it and was instantly approved for $1k. Not much, but it's a start in the AMEX family, which I'm pretty happy about.

I've used a company AMEX for almost 11 years and so far I've had great experiences with their support. I'm sure the experience on a personal card will be no different.

CK score was 619 and I had applied a few months earlier and had been denied. I only applied this time because CK said I had "Very Good Approval Odds." Was pleasantly surprised to get approved. Only approved for $1000 and used it to pay a couple of bills I was going to pay anyway. Paid off the balance immediately. I just checked my SkyMiles account and my 30K miles are there! I fly a lot for work, so this card will get a lot of use. Hopeful to increase my limit with a good payment history. Thanks for helping me rebuild my credit after a rough few years financially!

I was given a 1,000 dollar limit with a Fair credit score. CK said I had “very good” approval odds. When I applied it took only 30 seconds to be approved. I have a limited credit history and was surprised to receive an AMEX. I have 2 Capital One quicksilver cards and 1 Fingerhut Acct. Glad to have another card to help build up my credit. Thanks CK 

Got a preapproval notice in the mail for the Amex green charge card.  Applied with a CK score of 639 and was instantly approved.  Was reading reviews online how people applied for the green card and then for an Amex credit card and were also approved.  Took a chance the next day with the Delta card because CK said my approval odds were good.  Hit that submit button, and I was instantly approved!   Used to have a Delta airliners debut card from Suntrust so I had some points in a sky miles account.  Didn’t have that number handy, so I was given a new skymiles number.  Called Amex to get my skymiles account linked, and just like that had the miles show up on my card!   Great job so far Amex.  You’ve won me over. 

I applied and got approved with 687 FICO score, I love American Express they have great customer service and benefits, my other AE card is the CASH MAGNET card.

I had this card from more than a year and with good credit line , one day they decreased my credit line to 90% without notice and when eqnuired they explained it is becase of my score!!! I bought a car then for auto loan the credit check has done which impacted my score , but I never missed any payment to pay my credit card dues and I was accurate in paying on time. They didnt even considreed my payment history simply reduced my credit limit and when I needed this card to book the flight ticket the credit line was so less It was no more useful for me. This is absolutly bull **** ! they charge credit card fee yearly !!! We endup paying credit card fee and no proper credit line !!!  I need to submit my all documents such has proof of income and bank statements to restore my credit line !!! I never expected such thing from American express credit card. 

my credit scores all were in the mid 600s about six months and i got approved for $1K. Six months later, without even asking for an increase, they raise my credit limit to $3K. My credit scores are now all around 680, so my credit still needs work, but I do try to pay off my CC in full every month. Got my reward points about  3 or 4 months after opening my account and was able to book my paris trip with the points. Insterest rate is not the best, but that is why I try to pay it off in full every month. overall, I am very happy with this card. 

Given a really nice high limit right off the bat.  Miles are great and especially with signing bonus.  Also the free checked bags and discounted SkyClub entry more than paid for the annual fee.  

I have a 765 TU score and use less than 7% of my available credit. I also have two AMEX cards (Everyday and Gold Rewards). I figured this card-and booking my vacation through Delta (acquiring the 60k bonus miles)-sounded like a great idea...so I applied and was approved, my card being expedited. 

Imagine my surprise when I was given a $1,000 credit line! Furious, I called AMEX and spoke to two agents who were thorougly unable to help me with a CL increase. I explained my intended use for the card, and that this joke of a CL is worthless to me. I was told that they could process a CL increase “request” for me, but there was no guarantee I would receive an increase. I said this needs human intervention, and simply asking the system to review my request would be no different than applying for the card again-with another hard inquiry on my CBR...I asked for confirmation that there was nobody in the office this minute who could authorize a CL increase, and was told no, there wasn’t...

Not only did I cancel this card, I canceled my other two AMEX cards-I have plenty of other cards I can use for my vacation, and anything else I want to do...To be fair, this is probably a great travel card, but I’ll never know...Absolutely unacceptable-will never work with AMEX again.  Thanks for nothing, *******s...

Applied Monday night.  Was prompted to call.  I did call, and they said it was for secuirty purposes.  While I was on the phone she informed me I was approved, and asked I had an immediate need to use it.  I do, since I want it for an airline purchase I need to make this week, and I want the perks that come with the card.  She said she would expedite shipping and I should have it in 2 days.  One thing to note, they will not give your your card number until the card arrives, not even on the website.    You must activate it before you can see the number.  So, if you think you want the card for an upcoming flight purchase, apply at least a few days before you plan on making the purchase.

Applied and was sent to screen that said to call but about 20 minutes later it was approved and was sent email about my new account and credit limit. CK score of 660 and now I have my foot in the door with Amex at 19 years old. Currently have capital one quick silver (upgraded my original platinum card), discover it, and citi thank you preferred. Of your approval odds are good with CK you should have no problem was able to lock in a 50k bonus instead of normal 30k. 

I just purchased a home and wanted another line of credit in case of emergencies. The whole app took maybe 30 seconds and I was approved with $10K limit. I pretty much use my discover card exclusively but thanks to such a quick process I will definitely consider using it for more than just repairs around the (new) house! FICO scores avg 700

My advice: Don't apply for this card until you have went to their website, and did the quick pre-approval process. I started working on my credit back in June of 2017, with credit scores in the 400's. Today, my CK scores are 630, as in the score provided via Amex. I've been checking their site every few weeks for a year, and last week, I was pre-approved for this card, so I went ahead and applied. I was told to call their provided phone number. Of course, I assumed the worst, but they just needed to verify my identity.

I was approved with an average age of credit of about a year, and 35k in bad(defaulted) student loans, that have been on my credit profile for a few years. Nothing else is showing as negative. Started with a secured cap one and discover card. Then went to unsecured cap one, credit one and merrick back. Have since had the cap one and discover transfer to unsecured. I also have a new vehicle purchase within the last month. I'll never get tier one credit because of those dang student loans, but you can rebuild your credit, and join the Amex family
Approved for 1k.

I have a 760 score currently but I am unsure of what it was when I applied for this card. I assume right around 700. I have a $6000 limit which is awesome. I am in college and travel a lot on Delta so this card works well for me. You get double miles when you book your plane ticket and you get the miles when you actually fly. So you get triple miles! I love the free checked bag and Zone 1 boarding. It makes it super easy to board first and have enough room for your carry-on. I highly reccommend this card for anyone who likes to fly on Delta. The fee is waived the first year and then it's $95 after the first year. It has a 0% foregin transaction fee which is wonderful to use abroad. 5 stars, highly recommend. I am a college student in my early 20's, if I can do it, so can you!

This was my first American Express card, I tried getting the PRG and Blue cash but was consitently denied for them both, then I read this was the easiest one to get and apparently its true - I was approved immedietly with a measly $1,000 limit but I was in. My credit score was between 680-700 FICO when applying as it has been about 2 years since I got this card and almost 1 year since I closed it. The PRG simply offers better rewards and more points per dollar but this is still a good card regardless. If you want in with Amex this is the way in - I had no problem getting any other card with them after this. American Express is always my number one choice for customer service and point earning. Definitely reccomend them as a company but this card woudnt be my first choice if you were able to choose out of all their lineup.

Beware of the promises of bounus miles.  Like other reviewers here, I was promised one thing and recieved something much different.  They'll pull a swithceroo on you and then let you know that burried somwhere in the fine print it says that they are allowed to change the bonus offer at any time.  At least that's my experience.  That said, the card itself is fine, and the online account management system seems to work well.  Customer service by phone or chat is okay, not great but certainly not the worst I've experienced.

For $95 yearly fee this card pays for itself. Example: if you and you partner take a trip, no baggage fees for the 1st bag! That’s $50 one-way and $100 round-trip. As you can see, it paid for itself. I feel that AMEX is very generous with there credit limits. Mine is at $8,200. My bank has only given me a credit limit of $1,500. So, I enjoy this because I can keep my balance on this card pretty low.

When I applied was approved in minutes. Card arrive in aproximately 7 days. Use it and meet the minimum requirement for the bonus miles and received the miles after the statement closed. It is an excellent card if you use Delta Airlines. Helps you built your credit and get miles fast. When applied had a score of 760 and got 10k of limit. 

I travel a ton with Delta so the sign up bonus seemed enticing. Applied in July 2017 and was denied. Applied May 2018 and was approved for $1K limit. Nothing major but foot’s in the door after six years of diligent credit cleansing and building. At the time of approval: TU 681/EQ 683/EX 641 (have an $8K medical bill on EX, two open collections on all three but at a $0 balance, and 1 secured, 2 unsecured CC’s in excellent standing with $0 balances, 100% payment history). Will update after bonus miles post. 

1k credit limit to start...will try for a CLI in 6 months...fico 640...No late payments

i applied  for this card was sent  a email from american express needed more info.. called next day and after 15 mints with the rep said congrats your approved ... credit scores 689 tu 670 eq 660 ex im so glad to have my first american express card !!!! got my foot in the door ......

If you want to enjoy any trip you embark on. Don’t use this card. It’s that simple. 

I am 18 years old and building my credit successfully. American Express has noticed my efforts and has approved me for an $8,000usd credit line (30,000 flight mile approved). I would like to stress that my circumstances are different than most new credit users as I have paid off $7,000 on an $8,000 loan, never missed payments, and have a $1,600 credit line with Discover. My current credit score is +-748 when my card balances are at 0 (sometimes I leave a few hundred on the balance)  and that brings it to around +-708. I fly frequently and love this card for rewarding me. If you do not fly very much but want to build flight miles this card still is great if you achieve the signing bonus miles. I will NOT cancel this card.

note: my yearly income is also above $25,000 

Due to flying a lot and not accruing any rewards, I applied for this card with a 641 Experian fico score. At the time of appIication had 28 late student loan payments, 3 collections, 2 public records, and 10% utilization of CC(bad decisions and misinformed about credit when I was younger). Cards include a Discover IT Secured $200 CL, Capital One Platinum Unsecured $500 CL. I was approved immediately for a $1000 credit line with the 50,000 Delta skymiles bonus after spending $2000 in 3 months. Beware when adding a new banking account to AMEX they only allow you 1 payment in the first 30 days. If you need to process another payment during that time period like I did, you will have to go to your bank's billpay and push a payment to AMEX. This information came from an AMEX customer service rep. Other than that I have no complaints. Free 1st checked bag and inflight discounts from Delta! First year fee waived! Next I'm aiming for the Premier Rewards Gold Charge Card.

Applied and got instant approval for $10K cl.  677 FICO, 24% utilization on 2 Capital One cards, 1 Discover IT, 1 Citi Double Cash.  First AMEX for me...terrified to apply, but I'mcertainly glad I did.  

Six months later, I still have not received my points bonus of 60000 Delta points. Amex has failed in every way. I don't know why you would get this card if you aren't going to get the sign-up bonus points after meeting the minimum spend. Customer service keeps giving the run around. 

When I Applied, My Credit Score was a 650 with credit card debt of $1200 ( That's 2 combined) and 1 student loan !!

I bought a cruise through Delta Skymiles Cruises and paid for it with my Delta Gold Ameican Express.  The charges came through directly from the airline and therefore I did not get 2x points on my purchase.  Ridiculous!  Misleading!
